Building Something That Matters: AVW Volunteers with Roc Solid Foundation

At AVW, we spend our days building equipment. On July 28, 2026, our team put that hands-on spirit toward something different: a backyard playset for a child facing cancer.

Nearly two dozen AVW volunteers contributed to the project with Roc Solid Foundation, helping with assembly, installation and the work needed to bring it all together. They gave their time and labor to create a place where a child could play and a family could make memories close to home.

A Place to Be a Kid

Roc Solid Foundation builds hope through the power of play. Its playset program brings backyard play structures to children facing cancer, giving families a place to make memories close to home.

For AVW’s volunteers, the project offered a practical way to help. Working together on the build meant contributing something tangible that the family could enjoy beyond the volunteer day itself.

“When a child is facing cancer, the whole family carries that weight,” said Nina Djordjevic, CSR Team Manager. “We can’t take that burden away, but we can give our time to help create moments that belong to childhood: playing outside, laughing and making memories together. Knowing our team could help make room for those moments made this a meaningful way to spend the day.”

Family Values in Practice

AVW has been family-owned for more than 50 years. That history shapes how we think about the people around us, including the communities beyond our own workplace.

Volunteer Day gave employees an opportunity to put that outlook into practice. Colleagues who work together to serve car wash operators joined forces around a different kind of build, bringing their effort and care to a family they wanted to support.

The finished playset was the visible result. Behind it was a group of people willing to show up and work together because the project mattered.

We’re grateful to Roc Solid Foundation for making this opportunity possible and to the AVW employees who contributed their time and labor.
