A Premier Car Wash Experience in Evansville, Indiana
Zack Fortner had no experience in the car wash business. Absolutely none. What fueled him, however, was the challenge and the opportunity to learn.
When it came time to build his second car wash location, he carried the same energy. For Zack, it was more than simply a shiny car leaving the exit. It was also about creating an exceptional wash experience that keeps customers returning.
The AVW team — including resident architect Larry Zeroth and channel sales manager Marty Martin — visited Wash Boss’s newest site in Evansville, Indiana. Larry sat down with Zack to discuss the unique architecture of the second site and how it influenced brand identity.
As Larry notes, most car wash sites follow the standard prototype: a long bar topped with a curved roof and vertical volumes at the entrance and exit. Zack wanted his new car wash site to break that mold.
The original concept design was updated so the exterior frame resembled the curves of a sports car. Then, came the colors: bright orange and blue. At first, Zack’s own team made several attempts to change his mind. “You can be like everybody else,” said Zack, “but you’ll just get results like everybody else.”
The unique colors and design worked as a organic marketing tactic, catching the attention of locals who had to check out the new car wash in town. Zack’s focus on excellent customer service took care of the rest.
Think Outside the Box
As an operator/owner, Zack challenged himself to think outside the box of the standard prototype. What features can enhance the customer experience? Zack got creative with the architecture and colors, leaning into his love for car culture. The result is Wash Boss is one of the most visually-appealing structures in Evansville.
24/7 Marketing Billboard
Wash Boss doesn’t drop a single penny towards marketing. That’s because the building itself is a natural marketing tool. Zack added state-of-the-art lighting, custom vacuum arches, and a 100 foot flagpole. It’s impossible to miss and conveniently located right off a main road.
“I don’t like turning customers away”
Zach understood the local customer base. Many in town drove pickup-trucks which means wider tires. That’s why he opted to go with AVW’s conveyor belt known for its custom sizes, ease and safety.
Family Business
Zack toured the AVW manufacturing facility where he saw first-hand how AVW produced its world-class car wash equipment and parts. He was instantly welcomed by the AVW family and connected with them on their hardworking roots and focus on providing excellent customer service.
