
Europe’s Biggest Car Wash Exhibition
Last week, the world of car wash gathered in Amsterdam as manufacturers and operators convened for one of the year’s most anticipated industry events.
The annual Car Wash Show highlights the newest equipment and technology in the industry, and this year’s event brought 3,000 professionals from more than 70 countries and 80 exhibitors – including AVW Equipment.
Gabriela (Gabi) Vidakovich is a Project Engineer at AVW and noted the high turnout and energy. Gabi has a background in industrial engineering and worked on several corporate projects before joining AVW. She’s also had a busy summer between getting engaged and moving to a new place.
At this year’s event, trending topics included automation, sustainability, and water reclaim systems.
Cultural Exchanges
That shift is partly influenced by European legislation, which is firmer on water output, and the fact European wash operators see a lower volume of customers compared to the U.S.
Before, European consumers saw little value in a car wash that lasted a few minutes, which was seen as rushed and ineffective, and customers preferred longer detailing sessions.
“It’s a different culture,” said Gabi, “but it’s starting to turn.” European car wash operators are now adopting the practice of cleaning more cars while maintaining quality cleaning. There’s also spiked interest in membership models.
The changes are seen across the pond. American car wash sites are also adopting popular consumer trends from Europe – introducing coffee stations and children’s playpens to make it a family-friendly experience while waiting.
A Manufacturing Facility in Serbia
Customers also expressed concerns, and at the top was shipping and how tariffs would impact pricing. Many were relieved to learn about AVW’s manufacturing site in Europe.
“People were super excited and also shocked that we have a manufacturing facility in Serbia,” says Gabi. “It’s a huge win for us.”
Established five years ago and located 45 minutes south of Belgrade, AVW’s European manufacturing facility has ramped up production with new machinery, delivering faster output and maintaining world-class quality.
The facility is a major benefit for customers who can receive large equipment orders in a week compared to longer shipment times.
The Car Wash Show was a success for the AVW team, showing the potential of the car wash industry in Europe as a largely untouched market.
