The standard dual conveyor system uses 30-inch belts, with 42-inch belts available for operators who want a wider belt surface. Every AVW dual belt conveyor is designed on the assumption that any vehicle on the belt could be a truck or SUV, so the system is ready for the full mix of vehicles a car wash sees every day.

How the Dual Belt Conveyor Moves Vehicles Through the Tunnel

AVW’s 30-inch and 42-inch Dual Belt Conveyors support all four tires and carry the vehicle through the tunnel once it has been properly loaded. This helps accommodate a broad range of vehicles and reduces issues associated with braking, wheel movement and modern driver-assistance systems.

Using variable frequency drive technology, belt speed and direction are controlled by a variable frequency drive that integrates with the tunnel controller, while a conveyor pulse switch measures conveyor speed for the car wash controller. Motor size can be customized to suit each belt conveyor system and car wash tunnel, and a dual drive configuration is available as an option.

Built-In Cleaning and Easier Maintenance

As the conveyor operates, dirt and debris are continuously swept down to extraction points in the wear plates and drop into a sloped drainage trough that is rinsed during routine cleaning. Water manifolds at the entrance and exit sections rinse the underside of the conveyor belts and lubricate the sprockets, while the tunnel’s soap applicators and rinse arches help lubricate and flush the belt.

For easier upkeep, AVW offers an optional system that automates bearing lubrication and a a belt puller with an electric winch that makes it easy to open and close the belt. A glycol-based concrete heating system that prevents freezing is also available, and trench steel for concrete embeds can be supplied to keep installation simple. For added corrosion resistance, the frame is also available made of stainless steel.
